Mr. Bhanu Jain is a Deputy Director at India's National Customs Targeting Center (NCTC), an attached office of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), India. NCTC serves as the national Risk Management Agency for Indian Customs. Currently, Mr. Jain oversees the design, development, and modeling of the Architectural framework that underpins the Risk Management Systems at NCTC. He focuses on building advanced data science models, particularly harnessing Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence capabilties. These models are instrumental in effective interception of consignments especially those involved in smuggling of narcotics and contraband etc. Bhanu also plays a pivotal role in ongoing rolling out of a nation-wide automated Centralized Image Analysis Center(CIAC), leveraging AI & ML for analyzing scanned X-Ray images of containerized cargo autonomously and in a centralized manner. His expertise extends to Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Large Language Models (LLMs), which have been integrated into various RMS modules to increase accuracy and precision. Furthermore, Bhanu has received specialized training in X-Ray Interdiction during his participation in the IXIT program conducted by the United States Customs and Border Protection (US CBP) in the USA. Prior to his current role, Mr. Jain worked in GST formations under CBIC, handling administrative and jurisdictional aspects of GST and related laws. Mr. Jain has an experience of 7 years of working with CBIC, the apex body of Indirect Taxes and Customs in India. Before joining CBIC, he has served as a Software Developer at Amazon, specializing in Big Data Analytics, Hadoop and Data-Warehousing etc. Mr. Jain holds a BE(Hons.) in Computer Science from BITS-Pilani, India and has been a Gold Medalist there. He is also the 1st prize winner in the All India Hackathon,2023, organized by CBIC.
