Kevin Davies Smiths Detection
Kevin began his career in the British Army, serving in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. A full career saw operational deployments and active service globally. Kevin completed his military service in 2001 as an Engineering Officer. In 2001 Kevin joined SAIC (Now Leidos) as a Project Manager then setup two significant service sector PPP BOOT concession contract operations for the Government of Kuwait and also the Government of Mozambique. These two positions were interspersed by a position as Cargo Inspection Systems Technical Director EMEA at Rapiscan Systems. Kevin Joined Smiths Detection in March 2013 and is currently the Global Director for the Ports & Borders Business unit; he is a recognized Subject Matter Expert within the Industry. Kevin’s sphere of responsibilities spans the complete Smiths Detection portfolio responsible for the High-Energy Product line and innovative technologies that are presented to the Market. He is leading this Industry within Smiths Detection to provide innovative and robust Ports & Border security solutions. He advocates continuous improvement leveraged on 2 decades of experience in the sector and is driving Smiths Detection to the forefront within the industry widely recognized adding customer/end user value at the same time meeting international Legislation and best practice.
Education & Professional: Kevin has a 1st Class BEng (Hons) Degree in Software Engineering, Post Graduate Diploma in Management, Kevin is a Chartered Engineer and a Chartered Manager as well as a PRINCE 2 Practitioner and PMI PMP professional, he is a Fellow of the Association of Project Management; Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute and a Fellow of the Institute of Engineering & Technology.
Personal: Kevin is married to Maria living in Dubai, with 2 grown up children resident in UK.
