David Radovanovich joined the New Zealand Customs Service in 2004. During his time in Customs, he has worked at the Auckland International Airport, the Cargo Inspections Unit and the Drug and Fraud Investigations Unit as an Investigator, Chief Customs Officer and Operations Manager.
In addition, he was Operations Manager of Trade Assurance, dealing with the Customs compliance of traders. David has also led New Zealand Customs interaction with indigenous communities (Māori) focusing on developing partnerships to protect borders as well as outreach to Māori exporters. Other organizational programs David has led include the review and implementation of the powers and sanctions sections of New Zealand Customs and Excise Act 2018.
David’s role prior to moving to Thailand was as the Regional Manager Atlantic. Managing NZ Customs International Posts in the United States, Belgium and the United Kingdom.
David is currently based in Bangkok and his area of responsibility is Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar and Viet Nam. Key functions include liaising with International agencies to assist the legitimate flow of New Zealand exports across borders. Also working to target illicit goods off shore that bring harm to communities of New Zealand.
David holds a Bachelor Degree in Commerce and a Post Graduate Diploma in Māori Language.
